12+ year veteran of the ECPRI market, most recently a Vice President and Underwriter with Allied World Assurance Company - AWAC. Mr Svensk was Vice President of LAU from its inception in 2010 to its acquisition by AWAC in 2015. Prior to that Mr Svensk worked for factoring and asset management companies. Mr Svensk did his undergraduate work at Wesleyan University and earned and Masters Degree in Economics from Trinity College (Hartford) and also completed a Credit Analysis Certificate Program at NYU School of Continuing Education.
Robert E. Svensk was founder and principal of Latin American Underwriters (“LAU”). He was also the founder and former CEO of EIC and Exporters Insurance Company Ltd., prior to which he was the President of AIG Political Risk Inc. Before joining AIG in 1978, Mr. Svensk worked for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation - OPIC - in Washington, DC as a Loan Officer for Africa, Manager of OPIC's Private Sector Programs, and Deputy Director (Insurance) for Latin America. Mr. Svensk is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Harvard Business School.
Thomas P. Kane was a partner in LAU and was Exporters Insurance Company's Vice President for Latin America, prior to which he was the General Manager of Banco de Crédito, Guayaquil, Ecuador. Mr. Kane worked for Manufacturers Hanover Bank in a variety of international capacities including their representative in Buenos Aires, Santiago and Istanbul and was a Vice President in the bank's Sovereign Risk Group. Mr. Kane is a graduate of Harvard College and served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Alberto Ossa joined TCU in 2021. He has been a leading figure in the Latin American trade credit insurance and structured finance industries for more than 25 years. In 2001 he founded LTR Global which was the first specialist trade credit insurance broker in Chile and Latin America, prior to which he was the Commercial Director of Continental Trade Credit Insurance (Atradius) in Chile. He is a graduate of Universidad Gabriela Mistral and has an MBA degree Universidad Adolfo Ibanez.
Ben Heaney is a 15‑year veteran of the credit & political risk insurance (CPRI) market. He began his career as a broker with BPL and Aon before founding and building the industry’s first CPRI digital exchange. Ben’s current research spans multihop retrieval‑augmented generation systems and optimal capital structures in the international (re)insurance arena. In his new role at TCU (joined 2025), he will lead development of next‑generation CPRI solutions.
